Jing Su:
The reason why I chose this class is because of the credit requirements. In the school's English teacher education program credits, this subject is required, so I chose it. But in Phonetics and Phonology, I found that I understood the process of language, and I can also learn how to analyze words and language. Through the professor's teaching, group discussions, and homework, I learned much interesting knowledge. Although some content is a bit difficult for me, I believe that if I practice more and ask questions to the professor, I can learn more.
Melody Lin:
I have taken the course about pronunciation teaching. From that class, I learned some basic ideas to teach young children. That's why I want to take this course as well. And I also take the educational courses in our school. In the future, I want to be an Elementary school teacher. So I want to learn more skills of Analyzing English and how to use these methods into my teaching. At least I can use Pratt to show the sounds duration with different words to my students. Now I learned how the use Praat and Wix website. In addition, we review the articulators again and again. I can write it down very precisely. So I think it is beneficial for my teaching.
Christine Chang:
The reason why I chose this class is because of the credit requirements. I major in English, and I minor in Teacher Education. According to the school regulations, to become an English teacher in the future, I need to complete 10 credits each in education, literature, and linguistics. Therefore, I have chosen this course to fulfill my linguistics credits.
Linda Chen:
I take this course for the credit requirement. Although I have taken a course in TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION and have applied what I learned to teach young children, I still feel the need to further enhance my understanding of the correct place of articulation. This will enable me to better assist my students in pronouncing English words correctly. These are the two reasons for me to take this course.
